Surge in Social Media Marketing: As Businesses Prepare For Post Lockdown

A latest four step plan to ease England’s lockdown could see all lawful limits on social distancing by 21st June 2021, if conditions are met strictly.

Shops, hairdressers, gyms and hospitality could reopen on 12th April 2021 in England under plans set out by the PM.

From 17th May, two families might be allowed to mix in homes, while the rile of six could apply in places like bars.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson to MPs said the plan expected to be “cautious but irreversible” and at each stage decisions would be driven by “data but not dates”.

There was “no solid route to a zero-Covid Britain nor in fact a zero-Covid world”, he said.

Mr. Johnson later told a Downing Street news meeting the coming spring and summer would be “seasons of hope, looking and feeling exceptionally better for all of us”.

He described the plan as a “one way road to freedom” but said he was unable to ensure it would be irreversible “but the aim is that it should be”.

It comes as the first information on the UK’s Covid vaccine rollout proposed it was having a “fantastic” impact on stopping illness.

Step by Step

As a part of the initial step of easing lockdown in England:

From 8th March – All schools will open with outdoor after-school, sports and other activities permitted. Recreation in an outdoor public places such as park will be permitted between two people, which means they would be permitted to sit down for a coffee, drink or picnic

From 29th March – Outdoor gatherings of either six people or two families will be permitted. It is understood this will remember social events in private gardens. Outdoor games such as tennis or basketball courts will be reopening and also adult and children’s sports like grassroots football, will also return.

Secondary school pupils can access tests and will be needed to wear face masks in study halls and shared spaces like corridors.

There will be a gap of at least five weeks between every plan’s subsequent steps to consider the effect of changes on infection rates and emergency hospital admissions to be accessed.

The second step from 12th April would see significant parts of the economy allowed to return:

  • Non essential retail opens, beauticians and some public buildings like libraries
  • Outdoor settings like alcohol takeaways, beer gardens, zoos and amusement parks
  • Indoor leisure like swimming pools and gyms
  • Self contained holiday accommodation, like self-catering food lets and camping sites

However, wider social contact rules will keep on applying which means no indoor mixing between various families will be permitted.

Mr. Johnson also confirmed that the end of hospitality curfews to eat a substantial meal along with alcohol.

He said a review of global leisure travel restrictions would be announced by 12th April at the earliest.

Funerals with up to 30 people and weddings with up to 15 guests.

The third step will come from 17th May if the data allows and will see the “rule of six” abolished for open gatherings, replaced with a limit of 30 people:

  • Two families can mix indoors with the rule of six applied in hospitality settings like pubs
  • Cinemas, museums, hotels, performances and games though social distancing remains
  • Up to 10,000 spectators can go to the biggest outdoor seated venues like football stadiums
  • Up to 30 people will actually be able to attend weddings, receptions, funerals and wakes.

Mr. Johnson said this step would also “consider the potential role of Covid status certification” – which could refer to alleged “vaccine passports” in helping indoor venues to reopen safely.

Prior to the fourth step, ministers will carry out a review into social distancing and other “long term measures” designed to lessen transmission, including the “one meter plus” rule and the wearing of face masks.

They will also think about whether to lift the “work from home” guidance, which the government says individuals should keep on continue to follow until the review has been completed.

The fourth step from 21st June will potentially see all legitimate cutoff points on social contact eliminated, with the final closed sectors of the economy reopened like nightclubs.

The government hopes that restrictions on weddings and funerals will also be abolished.

Music and events pioneers called for more financial support for the sector, with the boss of one live music trade body saying his industry is “at the back of the queue to re-open” whenever restrictions are lifted.

MPs will vote on the guide in late March.

  2. Evidence shows vaccines are reducing deaths and numbers requiring hospitality treatment
  3. Infection rates do not risk surge in hospital admissions
  4. New variants doesn’t change the risk of lifting restrictions

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer welcomed the plan but said clarity was required over the future of the government furlough scheme for both the organizations and workers.
